Elizabeth Castillo - Piano

Elizabeth Castillo is a homeschooling mother of four who loves to do things with excellence. She grew up on the mission field in Kenya, Papua New Guinea, and Russia, in a family that loved the Lord and music. Elizabeth began piano lessons at age 6, and continued through high school, performing competitively after her family returned from the mission field and settled in Charlotte, NC. At this time, Elizabeth also began to study voice and violin, playing in the Charlotte Youth Symphony and singing in various choirs throughout her high school years.

Elizabeth continued her music education, including private voice and piano instruction, at Pensacola Christian College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance in 2011 and a Master of Science degree in Music Education in 2013. During her college years, she performed in numerous concerts and shows, including being a member of the original cast of the award-winning musical “The Hiding Place” where she played the role of Young Corrie ten Boom.

Elizabeth’s teaching experience includes 7 years of private lessons (beginner to intermediate piano and voice) as well as group instruction in choirs, music theory, and small musical theater productions.

Elizabeth’s passion in music education is to equip students to use their God-given abilities to worship the Lord with excellence, whether that be in their personal practice, classical performance, or corporate worship.

When not in the classroom (homeschool or music studio), you might find Elizabeth cooking, gardening, dreaming up interior design plans, or singing and playing with the worship arts team here at Hunter Street.
